Minardi M198 Sound Effects
The Italian 1998 Minardi M198 sound collection features 228 clips totalling 25.19 gigabytes of audio. It provides the sound of a Ford JD Zetec-R, 3.0-litre, 72-degree V10, mid-engined V10 powered vehicle driving while performing an extensive variety of maneuvers.
8 synchronized microphone takes provide a total of 24 onboard and exterior perspectives. The 11 exterior perspectives include driving with ramps, steady RPMs, as well as race driving from straightaways, corners, and chicanes. There are also shut downs, start ups, revving, idles and much more. The 13 onboard perspectives include recordings from the cockpit, exhaust, engine, and rear wings. The package also provides bonus four-channel Ambisonic AMBEO recordings of the exterior track, and performed effects of pedals, paddle shifters, the clutch, gearbox and other sounds.
Because of the advanced 1990s technology, starting the V10 engine was notoriously tricky. It required onboard air cylinders to actuate the valve springs, and F1 software from that era required a period-correct laptop (i.e., Windows 95) to communicate with the onboard computer.
The package also showcases 7 customized mixdowns of onboard and exterior microphones, text files of translated search keywords in 7 languages ready for import into your favorite metadata app, 18+ fields of Soundminer metadata, BWAV, and iXML metadata and MacOS Finder comments, and Pro Tools and Reaper sessions with all fx pre-aligned to allow editors to begin mixing and editing immediately.
